Yeah, don’t mind me or anything. I’ve been reading comments on YouTube and I want to rant about them.
“Rajesh Khanna never had much competition from anyone when he was at the top. So he ruled for that brief period of time. Whereas, Amitabh had competition from Dharmendra, Vinod Khanna, Shatrughan Sinha, Jeetendra and to some extent even Rishi Kapoor. Yet he outdid all of them and retained his No.1 position in the film industry longer than Rajesh Khanna could ever have only imagined to do but did not have the ability to achieve!!!”
Uhuh, yeah. Completely right. ._.” First of all, yes, Rajesh did have competition, you bleeding dunce! Look, he had competition from a lot of the 60′s actors, and because of his huge stardom, they sort of didn’t get many roles, and I hate that they stopped acting so early, but then change is needed. Though I do wish Shammi had stayed on longer… I do.
Anyway. Rajesh, I don’t know what caused his downfall or anything, but I do want to say that yes, of course he had the ability to achieve being on top of the industry for a long, long time! Oh, and this is completely unrelated, but I learned how to spell “mohabbat” because of “Yeh Jo Mohabbat Hai”. (They’re also making a film with the same title. Right, go on, clog Google up, will you? UGH! Felt like beating someone unconcious.)
And most of all, stop comparing the two legends, you stupid imbecile. They were both amazing, and that’s that. You, or me, or anyone, can’t even come close to them, so we don’t have the right to compare them and point out flaws in each of them. It’s like when idiots compare Rafi and Kishore. I swear, it’s so annoying. And it gets hurtful when people start insulting them. Sigh.

Umm, I know you like to rant, (*grin*) but it is true, you know that when Rajesh came in, there was hardly any competition. The 60s heartthrobs had begun to grow old (think Shammi by the late 60s) and there was no one else waiting in the wings who had that charisma that Rajesh showed. That is not to take away from his superstardom. As Amitabh himself acknowledged, Rajesh Khanna was the first superstar, enjoying a wave of adulation that no one had seen before.
Amitabh came to the top battling many obstacles. His looks were against him; he was considered a flop actor; he was competing against Rajesh Khanna, and no one could win the sweepstakes against Rajesh in the romance genre, Vinod and Shatrughan were baying at his heels, and Dharmendra was still going strong.
That said, you are right – why compare both of them? They were both spectacularly successful in their own right, and were (are) well-beloved of their fans. I have never understood why, for one man to be successful, his fans have to pull down another.
I would suggest, though, that you stop getting into pangas with anonymous people on the Internet. Your ranting is not going to make them change their minds, and there are some idiots out there.

Well, yeah, suppose you’re right. But Shammi could have done a couple more years, no? I found it extremely awkward in Zameer where he’s Sharmila’s – of all things- FATHER! And then “An Evening in Paris” songs started playing in my head and I just couldn’t stop cringing. Oh, and Kashmir Ki Kali. Oh, God. -faints-
BUT ANYWAY! Yes, I know, you’re right. I should stop ranting and raging over idiots over the internet. So much stupidity in the world today. -.- To illustrate an example, I sent my classmate to go look up one of Shammi’s songs (:D) in exchange for me looking up one of her favorite singer’s songs. While she was at it, she went and looked up the Fifth Doctor. (It’s from a show called Doctor Who, I’ve sorta started to like it!) And he’s my favorite. I don’t know, how, what, or why, but she supposedly “found out” that he was what – oh, surprise – transgendered.
I can’t even compete with such an idiot. Biggest lie on earth. Sure, it might as well have been true, but wouldn’t we all know!? I swear, whoever it is that wrote that, I’m gonna have his head on a stick. But then again, he’s not even worth my time. -tromps off to go listen to songs instead-

Shammi had put on too much weight by then to play romantic hero. As for the other stuff, why would you care if someone is transgendered? Maybe he is, maybe is not. That is his personal life. What you like is the person on screen, and that doesn’t change because he is transgendered. He is still who he is, the person you like to see on screen.
